I’ve been using essential oils for years, but only for cleaning purposes. I liked making my own cleaners and thought my “natural” cleaners were so great. Then I learned that store bought essential oils were filled with synthetic fragrances…the very thing I was trying to avoid.
I made the switch to using a cleaner essential oil brand, and that was fine for a while. Then the pandemic happened, and I found myself wanting some emotional support, as many people did. I was having crazy anxiety, wasn’t sleeping, was constantly feeling like I needed to be doing something, and just couldn’t allow myself to rest. So, I started searching for new wellness tools that would allow me to feel…calm and still.
I started doing more yoga, stopped listening to podcasts (I’m a podcast junkie and filled all my quiet time with incoming information) , started reading again, really focused on sleep, stopped blogging and grabbed myself a Young Living essential oil starter kit. (grab yours here)
I think all of these things combined were HUGE in bringing me back to peace and calmness. (As calm as a house with toddler twins can be). 😉
For this blog post, I wanted to focus on the essential oil portion. When I got my starter kit, I was overwhelmed. Luckily, the friend I signed up with was super helpful in answering all my questions and I was added to some Facebook groups which are a wealth of information. Then I started attending the zoom meetings that my group hosts, just to learn more. I was amazed at all of the testimonies that people were sharing about these little bottles of oil.
My family started diffusing oils morning and night, made some rollers and quickly became obsessed with the Thieves cleaner. My journey started in November 2020. As I write this, its now June and I’ll never turn back! There is such a calmness about grabbing an oil during a time of overwhelm, or rubbing some “owie” on my toddlers knees when they fall down. We are using these oils for so many things now. Are these bottles a cure-all? No. But they are a wellness tool that I feel enhances the lives of my family.
Why did I choose Young Living for oils?
The reason I chose Young Living is because of the quality of oils you are getting. They are pure, therapeutic grade oils, which gives them the ability to work with your body. Young Living makes sure the soil they plant in has never been touched with any pesticides or herbicides, ensuring we are getting the very best without any toxins present. They go above and beyond to make sure each drop is “beyond organic.”
Young Living has developed a seed to seal promise for their oils, ensuring the purity from the planting of the seed to the sealing of the bottle. They never contain any synthetics or additives, unlike so many other essential oils out there.
The business- in addition to all of the benefits the oils have, I found myself very interested in the business side of Young Living. I wanted to try the oils out before jumping on board (because I’ll NEVER sell anything I don’t believe in) , and that did NOT take long at all.
I started attending the zoom business meetings to learn more. I’ve learned SO much about both business and personal development. I have a long ways to go, but I’m growing. My dream is to be successful with this business, make enough money to give my hubby the ability to work less, and have the freedom to follow our dreams AND help as many people as we can in the process.
How my family uses essential oils for life and wellness
- We LOVE the Thieves line. The Thieves household cleaner is a FAVORITE of mine! It has replaced all of my other cleaners! This seriously simplifies my life and I will never go back! We also love the thieves hand sanitizer, hand soaps, dish soap, laundry soap, on the go spray, toothpaste and mouthwash. This line is plant based, nontoxic and safe to use around kids and pets. My kids help me clean all the time, which I would have NEVER been comfortable with before.
- We use lavender, cedarwood and orange for sleep support. I’ve made a roller for my kids and myself that we rub on the bottom of our feet every single night before bed.
- Stress away, lavender, frankincense, valor, peace & calming and orange are all oils I grab when I’m feeling overwhelmed. It gives me a moment to stop, take some deep breaths and breathe. It REALLY is so dang calming.
- Diffusing oils not only smell good, they also kill bad odors, not just cover them up! We diffuse all different oils to set the mood (morning or night), kill bad odors (hello cat litter and smelly diapers), or just to make our house smell amazing.
- Sickness– We’ve used oils successfully when we’ve gotten sick. Peppermint is cooling and a go-to when feverish, thieves is great as a wellness tool to support your immune system, SniffleEase™ is a kids oil to help with stuffiness or the sniffles and TummyGize is great for tummy troubles. DiGize/Peppermint is another great combination for tummy support.
- Cleaning– although we use the thieves line for most cleaning, I still do a few DIY’s. I use Young Living oils in my toilet/sink scrub, mirror cleaner, foaming hand soaps, and on laundry balls for a fresh scent!
- Achy muscles– PanAway! I used this when I hurt my back and it felt soo cool and refreshing!
- Bath time– Epsom salt baths mixed with lavender oil is soooooo relaxing.
- Progessence Plus™ Serum- “designed specifically for women and made with natural, bioidentical progesterone from wild yam to promote well-being and feelings of relaxation, harmony, and balance.” (-Young Living). I definitely notice a difference using this oil! I really think it helps keep me feeling chill.
My family is just getting started with oils and we have so much to learn. I really believe that they have the potential to do amazing things for people, both emotionally and physically.
