Ever struggle with keeping things organized each week? Give these organizational sheets a try! They will help you organize family schedules, work schedules, meal plans, events, upcoming appointments and more!
I honestly don’t go a week without them. I print them out, hang one on the fridge and keep the other on a clipboard. I’ve been using these for months now, and they help to keep me organized and productive!
The Organizing Sheets-
The two things that I print out and use EVERY SINGLE WEEK to stay organized are:
How to use the Weekly Family Plan-
- Fill in the Family Schedule– Here is where you will write things going on in the week. This may include appointments, date nights, meetings, kids sporting events, etc.
- Fill in the meal plan/dinner schedule- Here, you will fill in dinners for the week. The two columns listed below the meal plan are left blank for flexibility in this sheet. However, I use the two columns to write in lunches for my husband and I , and the other column for the twins food. If you need meal ideas, my most recent meal planning calendar will help you out! August Meal Planning Calendar.
- To-Do’s- Write out everything that needs to be done in the upcoming week. List specific chores, items needed for the family or home, phone calls to make, appointments to schedule, etc.
- Weekend To-Do’s– This is everything you want to get accomplished over the weekend. This may include weekend food prep, chores, errands, etc.
- Upcoming/other- Here is where you can write in upcoming birthdays, events, etc. You could also use this space to fill in notes and reminders for the upcoming week.
If you are not filling this out with your significant other, I suggest running it by him/her so you are all on the same page. Then, hang it in a place (the fridge) for all to see. Personally, I put this page in a sheet protector and hang on the fridge, then use a dry-erase marker to cross things off as they are completed.
How to use the Weekly Block Schedule-
(This block schedule is a modified version Jordan Page’s Block Schedule System. If you’ve never heard of it, go check out, The Block Schedule System. It is VERY helpful)!
- Fill in the blank spaces near the top of the page. You will notice there are two blank spaces/rows at the top of the page, above the number one. Use these spaces however you choose. For me, I fill in dinners in one space, and blog content information in the second space. I generally only write in two dinners at a time, as things change often around here. =) (see example below)
- Label in your blocks of time. Break your day up into chunks. If you want to see how I block schedule my time, read this post, “My Daily Block Schedule with Twins.” Examples of “chunks” might be “morning” “breakfast/get ready for school” ” work” “lunch”, etc.
- Once your blocks of time are labeled, fill in your schedule. Write in appointments, activities, meetings, etc. Write in things you want to do during those blocked off times each day.
- My top three for the week: I break this up into M-W and then Th-Sun. Here I write out my top three priorities I want accomplished for each chunk of the week. This has helped so much with procrastination and getting more accomplished each week.
Each evening, I review this sheet and write out my intentions for the following day. I write out my Top 3 things I want to accomplish the following day, as well as what I want my schedule to look like (if there is free time available).
This nightly routine helps calm my “monkey mind,” getting all my thoughts out and setting my intentions for the following day.
