2020 Family Planning Sheet
One thing I love to do, is make lists. I am a VERY visual learner, so lists and boxes make me happy. When I started thinking about goals I have for our family and home for the upcoming year, I made a list. Then rewrote the list a few more times before making myself a template I could print and use.
Goals:
When thinking about goals for our life, two big ones came to mind. Finances and marriage. I believe we are doing well in both areas, however there is ALWAYS room for improvement.
We are currently in the process of paying down our mortgage, so this upcoming year we will be budgeting EVERYTHING. I actually really enjoy making a budget and following Dave Ramsey’s envelope system. We’ve been doing it for years with GREAT success. (I’ll share more on this another time).
As far as marriage goals, I’d love to start reading books and/or listening to podcasts on marriage. Marriage is work (especially with little ones), and I want to work to have an exceptional marriage.
Trip/Vacation Ideas:
A goal of ours is to take a husband/wife trip once a year without our little ones. This doesn’t have to be a big trip, but it’s an opportunity to get away and enjoy some alone time together.
As the boys get older (19 months as I write this), we believe its important for them to travel and experiencing new places as a family. We live in Tennessee but our family still lives in Michigan, so a few trips back home is on our list.
Home Projects:
As we continue to focus on paying down our mortgage we have limited the amount of home projects this year. We plan on smaller sized projects such as changing paint colors, finishing my husband’s home office and maybe ship lapping another wall. 🙂
Year at a Glance:
The year at a glance section is for birthdays, seasonal activities to plan, work events, etc. We tweak this as things come up, but writing down events that will take place will help to plan other activities and trips.
Weekly Family Planning
At the end of each week, my husband and I sit down to plan out the upcoming week. We look at meal plans, our family schedule, discuss things of importance, upcoming events and our weekly “to-do” list.
I generally have the dinner meal plan ready to go ahead of time, so when we sit down, reviewing meals is fairly quick. We plan out lunches for the week and compile a grocery list. Then we typically add our groceries to a grocery pickup service for convenience, but this also helps us stick to a grocery budget!
Friday’s are a good day to sit down and plan so that you can pickup groceries Saturday morning and get some meal prep in before Monday!
I hope you find theses resources useful! Leave a comment if you use them and let me know how it worked out!
Happy Planning, friends and HAPPY NEW YEAR!
